A friend had told me to come with them to see this band Phish who were
playing for free down at Colorado College. Never heard of them and didn't
know what to expect. I was living in Denver at the time and it seemed like
a great way to spend a Sunday. They has set a stage up between some dorms
and the backdrop was Pike's Peak. It happened to be sunny that day and
they came on late in the afternoon for the first set. I think there may
have been a hundred people there. I didn't really get them at first
although I enjoyed them. It was during the solo on Possum that they
started to click for me and then the rest of the show went by way to fast.
They came out for the second set as the sun was setting behind Pike's
Peak. The front range in Colorado Springs is a beautiful sight although
the town is pretty odd for me these days. Some clouds were hugging the top
of the peak and the colors from the sunset were beautiful. The stage
lights(what little one's there were) popped on in synch with the early
part of YEM where Trey hit's those high notes. I loved the various styles
of music they played throughout the show that really got me. Unfortunately
they got some noise complaints and the show had to end. I came home that
night a huge fan and am real happy for their success today although I
rarely see them anymore. Keep rockin'.

It may be why they played their very best this show, with a all-star setlist. I wish I wish I went to it but I was only a 9 year old @ the time. Phish played with so much energy at this rocky mountian show. Divided Sky- A great opener, every time they play at colorado they seem to use this awsome opener, at the '95 Red Rocks show they placed it perfectly so that the Divided Sky jam was when the mountians where blocking out the sun, and I'm sure that this Divided Sky was at a very meaniful time Uncle Penn- A great song for a great show Oh Ke Pa- great oh Ke Pa perfect to get you in the mood for the up coming Suzie Greenburg. Many Coloradaian's are in the mood for a little bluegrass/country. Suzie Greenburg- wow! the band really gets into it, with trey saying suzieeeeee which seemed like an eternity. Then after "but she better first be cheked by a nurolgist" An unknown instrument fills the time before the next verse will astonsing greatness. ------skipping----- cavern- I always love to hear this one,but this on is a special Cavern because this cavern is sung less than a month after it was first palyed (4/5/90). Gordon (like always) shows us his capibility to play the bass with a great solo. ----skipping----- Mike's Song- another great song, with a awsome jam. pardon me for rushing- but the second set in a few words was just as great as the first, Dinner and a movie was a great scheme by the band to get the fans back into it, Bouncin' was played next followed but a YEM, trey gives us a great guitar that would make santana go "wow" then fluufhead, Esther oh and then a great BBFCFM, I really liked this on becouse the band didn't get off the song in the middle like they seem to do alot. this went in perfect order. A great Harry then just in case someone didn't fell they got their moneys worth the band gave them a golgi closer that gave everone a smile on their face driving home. In summary I loved this show (I used some great expression) an I wish I was there. until next time peace- Matt Gracey gracey@henge.com (if you want my list) BTW- for all of you dickheads, yes a 14 year old can see shows have a room full of boots and like phish songs beside Bouncing around the room.
