11/13/94 The Warner Theatre, Erie, PA (Rvwd 12/94) Tweezer was about
14 minutes, and very good. Great long
beginning before the theme kicked in. The opening lyrics segment was
standard and contained the usual ch-ch noises,
exaggerated lyrics, etc. Typical Ebeneeezer chaos. Within the first
few minutes of the jam segment, there are severe Rock and
Roll Hootchie Koo teases from Trey. Jam gets really eerie and spooky
(well, only at one point w/ a key change) and has a
manteca feel by the 7 minute mark or so. The jam clears this nearly
dissonant groove at the 8 min mark or so, but then falls
back into dissonance and repetition. By minute 9, it is soundly chaotic,
until Tubbs leads everyone back into a strong
tweezeresque jam. Soon, though, the jam gets very repetitive again.
Fish starts wailing on the cymbals, trying to pick everyone
up and out of this mess. The jam moves up a notch, but gets stuck again
by the 10 and a half min mark or so. Trey starts doing
some scales really fast, which sounds pretty cool, and the jam continues
to climb and soar. Very straightforward, well-jammed
tweezer. Typical dying out ending. 14 minutes. Standard Tweezer Reprise.
5.0 rating. (B-)
