Whipping Post (E) on fretless guitar (probably my favorite
Fish moment.. I just can't stop laughing at this.. never
get sick of it).
Opening is standard. "Boy" at 5:16. Dave "the Truth"
Grippo on alto-Sax... (he's really low in the mix,
though) Tramps jam segment starts at 7:33. Page goes
off.. not much from Dave the Truth, but he is in here. He
does the signals!!! ;-) ;-) Along with Mike.. (the
signals for the turns on the tramps) Tramps segment has
the standard Page wailing..
The jam segment has a great "Who Knows" jam (Hendrix) that
Dave started around the 11 min point, and then at 11:20 or
so, Dave starts playing the "Frankenstein" horn lines, and
they jam on Frankenstein for the next twenty seconds or so
(this is a solid Frankenstein jam, fwiw, until 11:53,
when bass and drums starts).
This jam segment really smoked.. just excellent jamming
from everyone, but especially fantastic interplay between
Trey and Dave. It is without question the strongest early
year YEM reviewed to date. Around 12:30, Mike teases the
bass line to Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love," and then the
closing WUDMTF segment kicks in at 12:39. Page teases
Sunshine as well.. and the vocal jam begins with everyone
on the Sunshine of Your Love theme. A fun vocal jam..
lots of humorous vocal "soloing".. (akin to the WAY that
they "play" Freebird) Some effects in here, as well. At
15:01, Trey starts up La Grange. (B rating)
