Nice long Pre-Nirvana segment, with crescendo/diminuendo stuff from
Trey. Mike's solo section ain't that exciting, however.
There's a
great 'Wizard of Oz' theme tease from Trey in the jamming between the
Notes, both of which are hit well.
"Boy" at 5:58. In the scream preceding it, I'm almost sure Trey
says
"Mother fucker"... for what this is worth. WUDMTF segment is
standard, great.. Tramps jam at 8:11. Page's grooving is typically
good, kinda laid back. Not that active, given what I've heard
him do
before. (I hear Trey screaming "yeah!" off-mic, presumably while
bouncin') Page is still great, of course...
Page starts wailing away when Trey would ordinarily have started the
jam segment.. starts a bit late at 10:05.. Page is hanging in here!!
Yes!! Mike teases a tune on the bass I know I've heard ... it's
that
funky tune from the late 70s/early 80s, with "Money money money
muuuuuh-nay!" sung over and over again in the jam. Oh my God!
Trey
teases something now .. he plays a riff I know I've heard before (over
Mike's teasing of that funky 'Money' bass line). I think it is
a riff
that is taken in part from Beethoven, but I forget what piece.
Mike
is still teasing THAT FUNKY TUNE! CHRIST!!! WHAT THE HELL IS
THIS
TUNE CALLED?!! Trey is still wailing away melodiously at 11:30.
A
gorgeous jam segment, folks! Page's accompaniment is also excellent!!
Mike teases this damn 'Money' tune again clearly at the beginning of
bass and drums.. DAMN WHAT IS THIS DAMN SONG CALLED.. who does it?
Someone knows this damn tune. AGH!!!!!! It is AN ULTRA-FUNKY
bass
riff.. Bass and drums started at 12:20 or so. God I hate myself.
I
know this damn tune that Mike is all over.. Anyway, this bass and
drums jam is verrrrry cool!!!!!
Closing WUDMTF segment at 13:50, and, akin to pre-90 versions, Fish
wails away until the vocal jam begins. This is the famous 'White
Boys
Attack' vocal jam.. if you haven't heard it, you need too. Some
"boo-hoo"ing from Trey as well.. it is a highly amusing vocal jam,
and
is not long enough to become extremely annoying. There is also
some
James Brown-like vocal jamming in here.. At 17 minutes, Fishman sings
"Setting Sail" (Lyrics: Tom "Not the Dude" Marshall), making this the
official first version of it (and yes, it should be reflected in the
setlist), as the others continue to vocal jam. At almost the
18 min
point, Fishman does some Ravi Shankar "tagga da tagga da da ta" type
stuff, which if you don't understand, well, listen to Ravi Shankar
or
some Indian raggas. Total time 18:08, when Trey begins Horn.
