Good opening segment... second shot at the Note isn't sustained very
well, though.

"Boy" at 6:54 after a hearty scream. Good BMGS/WUDMTF segment..
nothing special. Tramps jam at 9:03 with strong signals from Mike for
tramps moves. Page noodles around plaintively... until 9:58 when Trey
and Mike get off the tramps. Then he picks things up a bit. He still
pretty much tools around on the Hammond.

Trey starts jamming at 10:34, effectively starting the Jam Segment
with a catchy funky theme. I really DUG this theme at the show.. I
still like it. He repeats this funky theme continuously. Mike's
accompaniment is particularly phaaaat, too, which helps. The jam isn't
going anywhere special, though.. Trey really digs this theme. Just
keeps repeating it, basically. He jumps up an octave at around 12:10
but continues to repeat this ultra-catchy (imo) theme. I really dig
these theme-based YEMs much more so than the typical noodle around,
tease Oye Como Va stuff. Trey is playing off this theme looow on his
'doc around 13 minutes, and Page is accompanying on the clav. Mike
and Fish keep that bottom steady. A Truly DANK jam if ever there was
one, imo! =^] YEM has certainly come a long way since 1986!!!!

By 14:15 Trey's toying with the catchy theme, still, but in the upper
reaches of his 'doc! Gotta love it! I pity anyone who isn't moved by
this theme (this is a pathetic YEM to that unfortunate person). Around
15 mins the Jam begins to take on a true YEM jam segment form, with
glorious full-band jamming.. Trey kinda flubs a wee bit in here,
though, around 15:40 (which is *very* unusual in YEM). But quickly
recovers and returns to the Catchy Funky Theme for a little bit,
before jamming in a more traditional YEM manner around 16:30 (jam
takes on Oye Como Va overtones at this point).

At 17:25 Trey starts quickly repeating the "Who Knows" (Hendrix)
theme, and Page & Mike join in... they bring the jam back down a bit
on this theme, before kicking things out again around 18 mins. At
18:18 Mike becomes more prominent in the mix (Paul thought B&D I
guess)... a lot more prominent. At 18:37 Trey starts chording
similarly to the versions of Cities from summer '97, as Mike solos
mellifluously and thoughtfully. Around 19:14 the jam is, for a brief
time, unusually mysterious and ominous. Fish is still keeping steady
in the background (not too much flashy stuff from him in this YEM,
fwiw). This almost mystical jam features melodious jamming from Mike,
Page and Trey.. but no B&D. It doesn't really go anywhere, though.

At 20:30 Trey offers a WUDMTF or two before he begins vocal jamming.
They keep playing along, quietly, with the start of this vocal jam...
Fish drops out completely by 21:20 or so. And then it's 100%
harmonious vocal jam (no small furry creatures groovin with a pict
crap). Good vocal jam.. definitely up there with the finest of the
more-harmonious-than-silly variety. Total time: 23:36. Character Zero
> starts right up at the end of the VJ. Easy B+ for this version (and
if you really dug the theme Trey repeated, an A- or must-hear.. ;).
Check it out.. this tour opener contained a great Stash and a
Mike'sGroove as well as this YEM. I'd recommend this show.. it still
holds up even after all the awesome material in Fall 1997.
