Guelah contained a Simpsons signal. The Old Home Place through Foreplay/ Long Time were performed acoustic. Manteca was played for the first time since May 5, 1993 (134 shows) and was later teased in the return to Bowie. Trey sang the verses of Fee through a megaphone.

Review by westbrook

westbrook I Didn't Know makes its last appearance as an opener to get this show started, and you gotta love when Fish starts up the thunderous intro to Llama just as I Didn't Know climaxes. Guelah Papyrus>Scent of a Mule is straightforward, although there is a Simpsons signal in Guelah before "So maybe I could be a fly". Stash makes the familiar dark/minor key journey to tension/release land and Axilla II segues into the all-too-rare All Things Considered. Sample and Carolina end a satisfactory first set. It's about par for the tour.

The second set begins with the delays/effects signaling 2001, which drops right into a serious Bowie>Manteca>Bowie combo at its conclusion. This Bowie sandwich is the clear highlight of the show. It starts off with some tense, exciting playing, cools briefly, and builds back up to an even more intense finish. The Manteca segment is weaved in quite smoothly, as well. Lizards is a great choice after a jam segment because the start of the song provides some cool-down time, but the energy is picked back up by the end. At this point in the set, there's not much more jamming to speak off but Peaches through the end of the set is still quite enjoyable. Rift seems to have a little more zip on it than usual too. The encore of Fee>Highway to Hell is a nice bonus to end a solid show.

Overall, this is not one of the first shows of the tour I would throw on, but the Bowie>Manteca>Bowie segment is top-flight Phish and definitely a jam to seek out.

spreaditround SET 1: I Didn't Know, Llama, Guelah Papyrus[1] > Scent of a Mule: Standard.

Stash: Standard as Fall 94 goes. Which is to say, this version will rip your face off if your aren’t careful. Not noted in jamcharts and probably shouldn’t be but I would advise you to take 10-15 minutes out of your day – don’t multi task – and listen. Thank me later.

Glide, Axilla (Part II) -> All Things Reconsidered, Sample in a Jar, Carolina: Standard

SET 2: Also Sprach Zarathustra >

David Bowie -> Manteca -> David Bowie: Incredible. Will blister your behind and the jam into Manteca is memorable – understatement of the year/century. All timer.

The Lizards: Standard for the era. Which is to say: perfect. Happened to be driving through SW Virginia in late October of 22 while listening to this. Seeing all the fall colors while this played loudly in my car – absolute ecstasy.

Peaches en Regalia > Rift, Lifeboy: Standard.

Chalk Dust Torture: Cool minor chord jam as the jam gets going – definitely out of nowhere!

The Old Home Place[2], Nellie Kane[2], Foreplay/Long Time[2] --- Standard.

ENCORE: Fee > Highway to Hell: Standard, but a rollicking, good time encore!

Review by Miguelito

Miguelito This show is very good, but not quite on level with much of what went down in the previous couple of nights, or the next night, where the band caught serious fire. There are, however, a few highlights and things worth noting and it being Fall ‘94, the band’s playing is still on a very high level.

The first thing worth mentioning is the I Didn’t Know opener, which hadn’t appear in this slot since 1990. Interestingly, Llama followed on that occasion too. This was also the last time IDK has opened a show as of this writing. It’s an interesting choice and wouldn’t be my top one at that. But the Llama that follows gives an immediate boost of energy to the show.

Next of note is the Stash, which is a bit short but still quite solid. It sounds like it’s about to really take off towards the end of the jam but it was not meant to be. Still, this is a respectable version. Also of note is that ATR makes its final appearance for the year, heading closer to its current shelved status.

Lastly, the Bowie > Manteca > Bowie is the clear high point of the show with some interesting things going on in the initial, pre-Manteca jam. This jam goes through different phases, from a lovely little quiet part into a chaotic section in typical Fall ‘94 fashion that includes some vocal antics and a brief Llama-esque jam before they find their way into Manteca. The post-Manteca jam is pretty wild as well, and includes some fun Manteca teasing as they’re closing it out.

This show is solid but I prefer the preceding couple of shows, as well as the next night (where they knocked it out of the park). That being said, the Stash and Bowie Manteca sandwich are worth a listen.
