n00b100 2016 was a Light year just as much as 2015 was a Tweezer year (and, uh, 2012 was a Light year), and this is my personal favorite version of the year.

n00b100 My favorite Light of the year, in a year where Light came close to recapturing some of the mojo of its golden year of 2012. Thick, gloopy, almost *material* jamming, like they cut an entire section out of the Drive-In Jam and shoved it into the back end of Light. Yet another reason why sleeping on Dick's 2015 is dissing yourself.

CameToPlay The initial jam has such adroit playing from Trey it feels almost composed and leads to a very tasty controlled peak a couple minutes later. There is a transition period where the jam could have gone in a few directions, most likely funk. But instead it yields to a cool ethereal, ambient outtro. When you toss this show on don't skip right to Mike's. This is worth your time.

n00b100 Comparable to the 8/19/12 Light, actually, as out of the Light jam a light jazz feel takes over (it bodes *very* well for this tour if, as the St. Thomas tease possibly portends, Trey's been listening to Saxophone Colossus a lot recently), the band reshapes into a Mind Left Body jam, and then pushes forward into a first strong peak around 9:50 and a second *massive* peak at 10:35. Even more proof that it's not the length of a jam but what's done with it, and a Light more than deserving of noteworthy treatment.

chuckg Jam breaks into uncharted territory at about 4:18, throbs and swirls for a couple of minutes, then, around 6:24, decelerates as Page and Trey layer gauzy textures over some light cymbal-work from Fishman. At 7:23 or so, there begins a syncopated, "jazzy" section, and at about 9:45 the band takes off on the long ascent toward a series of thrilling peaks.

pikepredator I was admittedly drunk on couch tour by this point in the night, and I absolutely loved this Light. That said, it is a beautiful jam that holds up well on repeated listens. smooth playing all the way through, a very well-composed jam. while there is nothing challenging or exploratory about it this is a fun feel-good jam with a solid peak at the end.

n00b100 Fall 2013 isn't just one of the strongest tours since 2003 (or 2000, or 1999) because of the great shows and the legendary jams, but because of the secondary shows and the not-quite-legendary jams, of which this is a great example. It's not quite on the same tier as the 10/31 Carini or 11/1 Twist or any of Hampton's famous jams, but it's still a really great piece of business, from Fish's wicked backbeat while he yells out "Hey!", to Page doing dirty work on the clavinet, to Trey firing off loops, to pretty much everything Mike does. Well worth hearing, and like so many other Lights, a case of jam length meaning nothing in the face of jam quality.

n00b100 One of those jams that just hooks you by virtue of how *bizarre* it is; the stop-start segments are downright compelling, especially due to the off-kilter nature of the music, like they know what the proper key they're supposed to be in is and are deliberately and perversely playing out of it just to screw with us. The segue into Boogie On is killer, too. A highlight from a banner year for the band.

n00b100 A forgotten jam from a forgotten show, but a Light well worth hearing, both for the off-kilter weirdo jam and for when they luxuriate in the pool of bliss. Hope that, with the inclusion on the jam chart, both this jam and 7/5/13 as a whole get the attention they deserve.

TweezingSpaceRanger This jam is unbelievable. The 1st half is just as great as the 2nd. It was the best jam of 3.0 at the time and still has to be a top 5 jam of 3.0. I can't get enough of it

ericwyman In a previous jamming chart note, I compared this to the 12/2/95 Tweezer as noted by @colforbin310. While it's since been removed, I think it is a valid comparison but not note for note similar, obviously.

colforbin310 I agree with everything said in the notes for this jam on the jam chart except for the last statement. I love this jam, don't get me wrong, it's one of my favorite jams from 3.0 and I listen to it all the time, but does it really sound anything like the 12/2/95 Tweezer? Nope. This Light has sweet low key grooves for a significant portion of the jam, which, imo refutes any possibility of this jam being anything like that Tweezer. The amazing thing about that Tweezer is that it's just a heavy, pounding jam for the entire time. This Light doesn't do that at all. It has that absolutely amazing peak at the end, but before that very end part its a sort of funk-rock groove. I think that saying that this jam is "very similar to the 12/2/95 Tweezer" is very misleading. But that doesn't mean I don't love it. Seriously, I love this jam. Its absolutely amazing and I could listen to it all day. I just don't think that the comparison is accurate given the actual styles of the jams.

uctweezer To me, this one crushes the Dick's light from two weeks later. As @n00b100 states succinctly, no wasted moments. I won't pretend like C&P > Light -> Sally -> C&P is as masterful as 11/14/95's Stash -> Manteca -> Stash -> DFB -> Stash, but I will proclaim that it's sitting on the same shelf.

Runaway_Jay The peak of this jam is one of the most incredible things ive ever heard from this band. I dont care what year or era it comes from, but this peak just straight pops out of the speakers or headphones im listening to EVERY SINGLE TIME. the segue into sally is flawless and the build up until the aforementioned finale is just a perfect blend of stevie wonder-style funk and tool-style offbeat hard rock. You can lay down, close your eyes and lose youreslf in this one, or just dance your ass off wherever your are. this Light is a direct, punch you in the eye, fuck your face, no-frills jam for the ages

n00b100 Imagine how much more people would talk about this jam if it actually was played in 1995. No wasted moments, tremendous flow from the "Single Ladies" section on, and a truly legendary moment when they conjure up the spirit of Tweezer Reprise en route to *that peak*. The centerpiece of one of 3.0's (and their entire career's) finest sets.

n00b100 A very strange version, to be sure - maybe the most purely experimental of all the Lights played, which makes sense after the success of the Storage Jam portended a new direction for Phish. Sure, they didn't take that direction, but the rest of Summer 2011 had some very deep, dark moments (with the Gorge Rock & Roll leading the charge). This jam, in particular, would fit right at home in 1994, such are the avenues that it takes. That, alone, is worth the green treatment.

n00b100 Kinda reminds me of the 11/2/13 Tweezer, actually. Not quite on the upper tier of Lights (then again, that shelf's gotten awfully crowded rather fast), but still a very fine jam and the improvisational cornerstone of one of 3.0's greatest sets.

CJayW This jam got me back into Phish back in 2010. After Mr. Miner wrote how good the ALACs sounded from this run (Light and Simple in particular), I bought and downloaded them and have been hooked again ever since. So many good Lights from 3.0, but this one will always be my fav.
